South Zone post second win in J K Bose tourney
Panaji: South Zone recorded their second successive victory in the Sports Journalists’ Federation of India’s J K Bose Twenty20 cricket tournament when they routed East Zone by nine wickets here on Friday.
Satish Viswanathan scored an unbeaten 53 off 43 balls as South overhauled East’s small total of 114 for six with nine wickets in hands and 6.4 overs to spare at the Sports Authority of Goa, Campal.
South play North, who were beaten by West on Friday, in the last league match on Sunday.
In the West vs North tie, the latter were skittled out for 58 in only 15.4 overs before West reached the target for the loss of two wickets. West play East in their last tie.
Scores: East Zone 114 for 6 (S Sabanayakan 37 not out, Arup Chatterjee 31 not out; Mallikacharan 3 for 12) lost to South Zone 116 for 1 in 13.2 overs (Satish Viswanathan 53 not out, R Kaushik 26)
North Zone 58 in 15.4 overs (Rahul Dixit 3 for 16, Devendra Pandey 2 for 7, Naresh Shelke 2 for 2) lost to West Zone 62 for 2 (Pradeep Vijayakar 33 not out).
