Colombo: Statistical highlights on the third day of the second cricket Test between India and Sri Lanka here on Saturday.

Ajinkya Rahane has become the first Indian fielder to take 10 catches in a Test series in Sri Lanka.

Rahane is now the second Indian fielder to take 10 catches in a Test series vs Sri Lanka. In the three-Test series vs Sri Lanka in India in 1993-94, Mohammad Azharuddin had taken exactly 10 catches.

For the third time, Amit Mishra has bagged four wickets or more in an innings -- once each against Australia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Mishra's excellent figures of 4 for 43 are his best away from home -- his second best next only to the 5 for 71 vs Australia at Mohali in October 2008.

Playing in his 15th Test, Mishra has completed his 50 wickets -- his tally being 52 at an average of 38.19.

Lahiru Thirimanne (62) has posted his first fifty vs India -- his fourth in Tests.

Thirimanne's 142-ball fifty is his slowest in Test Cricket. His previous slowest was a 128-ball fifty vs New Zealand at Wellington in January this year.

Angelo Matthews (102) has posted his fifth Test century as captain.

Matthews' first century vs India is his sixth in Tests. His previous highest score against India was 99 at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai in December 2009.

Matthews enjoys an outstanding record as captain in Tests -- his aggregate being 1999 in 20 Tests at an average of 71.39. He needs just one run to become the fourth Sri Lankan captain to complete 2,000 runs or more -- the top three being Mahela Jayawardene (3665), Arjuna Ranatunga (3118) and Sanath Jayasuriya (2177).

Only Alastair Cook has scored more runs as captain than Matthews since March 8, 2013 -- the date of Matthews' becoming captain in Tests.

Only two Sri Lankan captains have scored more hundreds than Matthews' five -- Jayawardene (14) and Sangakkara (7).

During the course of his above century, Matthews has completed his 2,000 runs in Tests in Sri Lanka -- his tally being 2037 (ave.58.20) in 30 Tests. His tally includes three hundreds and 12 fifties.

Matthews is the tenth Sri Lankan batsman to accomplish the aforesaid feat in Tests in Sri Lanka.

Matthews and Thirimanne were involved in a stand of 127 -- Sri Lanka's highest fourth wicket partnership vs India at P.Sara Oval, surpassing the 99 between Duleep Mendis and Roy Dias in September 1985.

The aforesaid stand is Sri Lanka's third highest fourth-wicket partnership at P Sara Oval. Their highest fourth-wicket partnership at this venue in Tests is 240 (unbroken) between Arjuna Ranatunga and Asanka Gurusinha vs Pakistan in March 1986.
