New Delhi: Rohit Sharma has always been touted as one of the most talented Indian batsmen in contemporary cricket. The right-hander has proved his prowess in the limited-overs cricket. The Mumbai cricketer started off his Test career on a high as well in a home series against West Indies in 2013, by scoring consecutive tons.

However, since then the talented cricketer has looked a pale shadow of his former self and has failed to justify his place in the Test side.

In the last ten Test innings the right-hander only managed to accumulate 257 runs, which is not at all acceptable from such a hyped batsman.

The 28-year-old hasn't managed to prove his credentials after his incredible debut in the longest format of the game. Surprisingly, on most of the occasions he failed to convert his starts into big scores.

In the first Test against Sri Lanka, skipper Virat Kohli showed immense confidence in the Mumbaikar, who is known for his lazy elegance. The skipper even sacrificed one-down specialist Cheteshwar Pujara to give Rohit a place in the playing XI.

However, Rohit once again disappointed his skipper in the first innings where he got out cheaply when Angelo Mathews trapped him in front of the wicket, on mere nine.

As they say you can't rest on your laurels, Rohit needs to understand that it's high time he should perform and prove his mettle while playing in whites.
