New Delhi: The legendary Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara failed to impress in his final Test innings on Sunday as the southpaw got out after scoring mere 18 runs.
It's once again India's premier spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin, who spoiled Sanga's farewell party in Colombo.
In fact, in Sanga's last four innings, Ashwin was the one who got the better of the retiring great on each occasion.
It was an excellent delivery by the offie – a length ball outside off, which turned after pitching and took the outside edge of the southpaw's before Vijay grabbed the catch at gully region.
From spectators to players to umpires, everyone gave Sanga a warm send off as the 37-year-old walked back towards the pavilion. The legendary cricketer hold his arms aloft and headed towards the pavilion for the last time.
He ended with 12400 runs in 134 Tests at an average of 57.40 and 14234 runs from 404 ODIs at 41.98.
It wasn't to be in this match but what he was for SL cricket is some thing that you can't take away. Very proud of you mate. @KumarSanga2
