New Delhi: Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of the remaining tour of Sri Lanka on Monday due to a hairline fracture in his right hand.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also confirmed the news via their official Twitter account.

Dhawan sustained the injury during the first Test in Galle.

It's a big blow for Team India as one of their in-form openers, Murali Vijay is already struggling with an injury, which forced the right-hander to warm the bench in the opening Test.

Dhawan was the highest run-scorer for India in the first Test as the southpaw scored a magnificent ton in the first innings and followed it with 28 runs in the second innings. India, however lost the match by 63 runs.

At a time when Indian batting line-up is struggling to show consistency, Dhawan's injury has certainly come as a major setback for skipper Virat Kohli.
