New Delhi: At a time when Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are accused of hiding their captain Gautam Gambhir’s injury, which has put his West Indies tour in jeopardy, the owner of the KKR Shah Rukh Khan is skipping the issue.
As per reports, Thursday, the Bollywood star refused to comment on the issue after he was contacted by media.
Despite having suffered a serious shoulder injury, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir was made to play by his franchise in the IPL Eliminator against Mumbai Indians on Wednesday.
Sources close to the BCCI informed that the BCCI is upset with the KKR they way they have handled the whole matter and if KKR are found guilty, they would face severe punishment.
It once again fueled the club versus country debate as the BCCI was reportedly informed about the incident on May 25 when the franchise knew about it on May 23.
It was learnt that the BCCI was informed about the injury just a couple of hours before Gambhir took to the field at Wankhede stadium on Wednesday, which clearly suggested that the KKR didn’t want to miss his service in the significant IPL match.
It appears that the KKR is also trying to downplay the issue and shying from taking the blame for Gambhir’s injury. According to the letter sent by their physio to the BCCI secretary, Gambhir suffered the injury during the final of the World Cup way back on May 2.
"Gautam arrived in Kolkata at the start of the IPL complaining of a `sore shoulder`, the onset of which occurred during the World Cup final," stated the letter.
