  • Paul Valthaty`s tally of 19 fours is a record in the IPL, obliterating the 16 by Michael Lumb, during his innings of 83 off 43 balls for Rajasthan against Punjab at Jaipur on April 7, 2010.
  • Kings XI Punjab`s splendid six-wicket triumph is their first in eight games against Chennai Super Kings.
  • Punjab (193 for four off 19.1 overs) have recorded the highest successful chase by any team against Chennai in the IPL.
  • Subramaniam Badrinath (66 not out off 56 balls) has recorded his highest innings in the IPL.
  • Badrinath has totalled 791 at an average of 30.42 in 48 matches, including six half-centuries, in the IPL.
  • Mahendra Singh Dhoni has aggregated 1105 at an average of 38.10 in 45 games, including six fifties in the IPL.
  • Vijay and Badrinath put on 124 for the third wicket - Chennai`s highest for any wicket against Punjab in the IPL.
  • Murali Vijay (74 off 43 balls) has posted his third fifty in the IPL. He has aggregated 596 runs at an average of 31.36 in 21 matches in the IPL, including one century and three fifties.
  • Adam Gilchrist has effected 14 stumpings - a record in the IPL, surpassing the 13 each by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik.
  • Suresh Raina has posted his first duck in 46 innings in the IPL - his second in Twenty20
  • Paul Valthaty (120 not out off 63 balls) has registered his first hundred in Twenty20.
  • Valthaty`s marvellous innings is the highest individual for Punjab in the IPL. He became the third Punjab batsman to post a hundred in the IPL. Shaun Marsh - 115 not out against Rajasthan at Mohali on May 28, 2008 and Mahela Jayawardene - 110 not out against Kolkata at Kolkata on April 4, 2010 - were
    the first to achieve the feats.

  • Valthaty`s 120 not out is the best in a successful chase in the IPL and the third highest overall - the top two being Brendon McCullum`s 158 not out for Kolkata against Bangalore at Bangalore on April 18, 2008 and Murali Vijay`s 127 for Chennai against Rajasthan at Chennai on April 3, 2010.
  • Valthaty has received the Man of the Match award for the first time in the IPL.
