Steve Waugh predicts Australia-India Test series to be even contest

Sydney: Former Australian captain Steve Waugh reckons that the upcoming four-Test series between Australia and India would be an “even contest”.
Waugh, however, said that Australia could pull it back if they use fast and bouncy wickets. “I’d have felt more comfortable if we had (fast bowler Pat) Cummins in the line-up. His absence maybe sways the series back to it being a very even contest.” “It’ll also depend upon the type of pitches we play on. India like slow turning, slow tracks and if we dish a few of those up, they’ll be hard to beat … if we get them on green tops and it’s bouncing, we’ll be right in it,” he added. The first Test of the series will start in Melbourne on December 26. The remaining Tests will be played in Sydney, Perth and Adelaide. The Tests will be followed by two Twenty20 internationals, before Sri Lanka join in for a one-day tri-series from February 5. Bureau Report
