Steyn, Morkel to shark dive to mark 100-day 2011 WC countdown

Dubai: South African pace duo of Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel will shark dive here on Tuesday with the 2011 World Cup trophy to mark the 100-day countdown to the opening ceremony of the sporting extravaganza.

Steyn and Morkel will perform the stunt in the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo in the presence of his teammates and the Pakistan team.

ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat will also witness the flagship event which will see the South Africans taking the prestigious ICC trophy to the bottom of the Dubai Aquarium, one of the largest indoor aquariums in the world.

South Africa, who will take on India ahead of the February-March World Cup in the sub-continent, are currently locked in a fierce one-day battle with Pakistan here.

The opening ceremony of next year’s World Cup will be held in Dhaka on February 17, while the matches will commence two days later with co-hosts Bangladesh and India clashing in the tournament opener in Mirpur on February 19.
