New Zealand Innings

Over: 20 I Score: 139/7

Score tied. Super Over will decide the match.

Marlon Samuels was given the responsibility of bowling the last over. It’s do-or-die for him and the West Indies. Samuels’ first 3 balls cost them 5 runs but the 4th ball was hit for a six by Taylor. 3 runs off the final 2 balls. Just 1 off the 5th ball. Now 2 off last ball. West Indies tried to take two but Bracewell was run out. Scores are level.

Earlier, Ravi Rampaul bowled a tight 18th over, conceding just 6 runs. Pressure started mounting on New Zealand. 17 runs needed off last two overs. Sunil Narine struck with his 3rd ball, removing Nathan McCullum, caught at deep mid-wicket. Superb over by Narine, just 3 runs from the penultimate over. New Zealand needed 14 off the last 6 balls.

Over: 15 I Score: 99/5

Sunil Narine outfoxed James Franklin to inflict 4th blow on the New Zealand camp. Franklin made a run-a-ball 14. He stitched a small partnership of 33 runs with skipper Ross Taylor and gave them a sense of momentum they lost after losing 3 wickets for 52. Ross Taylor (32*) seemed determined and hopefully would guide them to a win here. After 15 overs, New Zealand were 99/4. They need 41 runs to win off 30 balls.

Over: 10 I Score: 56/3

Another wicket for the West Indies as Badri bowled the dangerous and in-form Brandon McCullum for 22. Sammy, then in the 9th over, got rid of Martin Guptil for 21. Guptil, who started off well, wanted to cut a short and wide ball from Sammy, only to be caught at point by Samuels. Overall, it’s pretty good going for the West Indies. Though they have not a big total to chase, it can safely be said that the Kiwis are in a spot of bother. After 10 overs, New Zealand were 56/3.

.......................................................................................................
Over: 5 I Score: 25/1

Ravi Rampaul gave West Indies their first breakthrough when he had Rob Nicol lbw for 3 in the third over. West Indian opening bowlers- Rampaul and Samuel Badri- bowled tight lines and lengths to restrict New Zealand to 25/1 after 5 overs.

West Indies Innings

Doug Bracewell and Tim Southee picked up three wickets each to bowl out the West Indies for a below par 139. Chris Gayle was the highest scorer for the West Indies with 30 while Kieron Pollard made 28.

Over: 20 I Score: 139

Sammy and Pollard briefly tried to resurrect the innings before Sammy’s departure for 11. Pollard tried really hard to score some quick runs off the death overs by hitting tow fours off Bracewell in the 18th over. But the bowler got Pollard for 28 off the 5th ball of the over. Pollard scored 28 off 22 balls with 3 fours. Tim Southee then removed Sunil Narine for 3 in the penultimate over to take wicket No. 9 for New Zealand. Oram picked up Samuel Badri to finish off the West Indies innings with three balls to spare. After Pollard’s wicket, West Indies never got the momentum and were bowled out for a moderate 139.

.......................................................................................................
Over: 15 I Score: 108/6

West Indies were going along nicely. Bravo and Samuels milking the Kiwi bowlers for ones and twos. But Nathan McCullum got the crucial breakthrough for the New Zealand by picking up Bravo for 16 in the 13th over with a straight one which dislodged the off-stump. Hira, in the next over, got Denesh Ramdin for 1. The two wickets derailed the West Indies innings. After 15 overs, West Indies were 108/6.

.......................................................................................................
Over: 10 I Score: 86/3

West Indies took 17 runs off Jacob Oram’s first over which was the 6th over of the innings. Both Gayle and Samuels slammed one six each in that over. But Tim Southee removed dangerous Gayle for 30. He needed only 14 balls to score 30 with 3 fours and 2 sixes. West Indies lost a little bit momentum after Gayle’s departure. Left-arm spinner Ronnie Hira, the man who replaced Vettori, came to bowl the 8th over and went for just 1 run. But Samuels and Darren Bravo kept the momentum going in the next two overs from Nathan McCullum and Hira and took the West Indies to 86/3 after 10 overs.

.......................................................................................................
Over: 5 I Score: 43/2

West Indies got a good start as they took 9 runs off the first over bowled by Kyle Mills. Doug Bracewell picked up Johnson Charles in the second over of the innings to draw first bold for New Zealand. Charles (9) started off well, hitting two fours in the very first over by Mills. Chris Gayle slammed the first six of the West Indies innings when he hit one over the park off Mills in the third over. He then hit two fours in the same over. Mill’s over cost New Zealand 16 runs. Andre Russell also joined the party as he hit Bracewell for a six in the fourth over. But Bracewell came back to pick Russell for 6 in the same over.

After 5 overs, West Indies were 43/2.

.......................................................................................................
TOSS: New Zealand have won the toss and will bowl first.

New Zealand have included Ronnie Hira in place of Daniel Vettori while Jacob Oram replaced Kane Williamson.

For West Indies, Samuel Badree replaced Fidel Edwards while Dwayne Bravo has a groin injury and Darren replaced him.

Welcome to our live coverage of the crucial Super-8 encounter between New Zealand and West Indies.

Preview: Having lost their previous two matches, the Ross Taylor-led side needs nothing less than a big win over Windies when they take field on Tuesday. After this they’ll have to pray that England also overcome Sri Lanka later in the night to ensure their safe passage to the semifinals.

On the other hand, West Indies need to win this game and if England lose, they will book a semis spot. However, if Lankan team emerges as the winner then it will be a three-way tie between them, the hosts and English team. The net-run-rate will come in to play should this situation arise.
