Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad win; six matches abandoned

Chennai: Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad emerged winners in their respective matches even as six other ties were abandoned without a ball being bowled due to unplayable conditions in the All India Buchi Babu Cricket tournament on Sunday.

Tamil Nadu off-spinner Malolan Rangarajan claimed six for 46 as the hosts shot out Madhya Pradesh 145 in 48.1 overs after setting them a target of 290 to win.

Opener Shan-e-Alam (48) and Anand Singh (50) resisted the home team attack for 19 overs adding 75 runs for the third wicket.

Tamil Nadu, who have won all their three matches so far have accrued 12 points and Madhya Pradesh have four points from one win.

In the match between Assam and Hyderabad, the latter won by four wickets with 38 overs to spare.

Responding to Assam`s 241 all out in 87.3 overs, Hyderabad made 242 for six in 52 overs. Abhinav, who remained unbeaten with a superb 82 (97b) remained the top scorer.

Akshit Reddy (34), D B Ravi Teja (35) and Sandeep (39) batted well for Hyderabad while Assam`s Arup Das took two for 76.

With three wins, Hyderabad tallied 12 points and Assam are virtually out of the reckoning for the knockout stage, having lost all three games so far.

Group-C: Saurashtra 355 for 9 in 90 overs drew with Bengal. Points: Saurashtra 1 (5) and Bengal 1 (1) and Karnataka 410 for 7 in 90 overs drew with Kerala. Points: Karnataka 1 (1) and Kerala 1 (5).

Group-D: Assam 241 all out in 87.3 overs lost to Hyderabad 242 for 6 in 52 overs (Abhinav 82 not out, Akshit Reddy 34, D.B.Ravi Teja 35, Sandeep 39, Arup Das 2 or 76. Points: Hyderabad 4 (12) and Assam 0 (0) and TNCA 289 all out in 89.2 overs bt Madhya Pradesh 145 all out in 48.1 overs (Shan-e-Alam 48, Anand Singh 50, Malolan Rangarajan 6/46 and P.K.Dharma 2/37).
