The Hague: The Netherlands has picked a 15-man squad for the Cricket World Cup team that blends local talent with experienced overseas players such as big-hitting South Africa-born Essex all-rounder Ryan Ten Doeschate.
The Netherlands Cricket Union says it announced its World Cup squad well ahead of today`s deadline because many of the players are amateurs and needed as much notice as possible to get time off from their employers.
Peter Borren, who played under-19 cricket for New Zealand, captains the team that opens its campaign against England on Feb 22 in Nagpur.
The Dutch also play the West Indies, South Africa, India, Bangladesh and Ireland in a tough group at the Feb 19-April 2 tournament being hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Netherlands squad: Peter Borren (capt), Wesley Baressi (wkt), Mudassar Bukhari, Atse Buurman, Tom Cooper, Tom de Grooth, Alexei Kervezee, Bradley Kruger, Bernard Loots, Adeel Raja, Pieter Seelaar, Eric Swarczynski, Ryan Ten Doeschate, Berend Westdijk, Bas Zuiderent.
