Tsotsobe registers best bowling figures against India

Durban: Statistical highlights of the first one-day international between India and South Africa played here last night.

  • Virat Kohli (54) has posted his second highest innings against South Africa - his highest is 57 at Ahmedabad on February 27, 2010.
  • Kohli has recorded his eleventh fifty in ODIs – his second against South Africa.
  • Harbhajan has recorded his second duck against South Africa - his 14th in ODIs.
  • South Africa`s 135-run magnificent victory at Kingsmead, Durban is their second largest over India in terms of runs in ODIs, next only to the 157-run win at the same venue on November 22, 2006.
  • South Africa`s aforesaid win is their 37th (lost 22) out of 61 played against India (NR 2) - success per cent 62.71.
  • India have yet to record a victory in six ODIs against South Africa at Kingsmead, Durban, losing five while one ODI on February 12, 1997 was rain-affected.
  • Amla`s second fifty in consecutive innings against India is his eleventh in ODIs.
  • Amla`s brilliant 50 off 36 balls is his second highest against India, next only to the 87 off 103 balls at Ahmedabad on February 27, 2010.
  • Munaf Patel (2/36) has registered his best bowling performance against South Africa, outstripping the two for 39 at Durban on November 22, 2006.
  • Jean-Paul Duminy (73) has registered his best innings against India. His tenth half-century in ODIs is his first against India.
  • In the course of his aforesaid fifty, Duminy has completed his 1,000 runs in South Africa, totalling 1071 at an average of 53.55, including two centuries and five fifties, in 31 matches.
  • Rohit Sharma (2/30) has recorded his second best bowling performance in ODIs - his best being the 2 for 27 against West Indies at Kingston on June 28, 2009.
  • Morne Morkel (2/12) has produced his best bowling performance against India.
  • Ashish Nehra (6-0-61-1) has recorded his economy rate -10.16 - his second worst in ODIs. Against West Indies at Ahmedabad on November 15, 2002, he had figures of 5-0-53-0, the economy rate being 10.60.
  • Nehra has captured 150 wickets for India in 111 matches at an average of 31.10. His overall tally of 152 wickets in ODIs includes two for Asia XI in three games at an average of 41.00.
  • Mahendra Singh Dhoni (25 off 35 balls) has recorded his highest innings at Kingsmead, Durban, surpassing the 14 against South Africa on November 22, 2006.
  • Abraham de Villiers (76 off 69 balls) has registered his 25th half-century in ODIs - his second against India.
  • Abraham de Villiers has posted three consecutive innings of 75-plus against India - 114 not out at Gwalior and 102 not out at Ahmedabad last year followed by 76 at Durban.
  • Lonwabo Tsotsobe (4/31) has registered his best bowling figures against India, surpassing the 3 for 58 at Ahmedabad on February 27,2010.
  • Tsotsobe`s aforesaid bowling figures are his best in South Africa and the second best overall, next only to the 4 for 27 against Pakistan at Abu Dhabi on October 29, 2010.
  • Tsotsobe`s aforesaid bowling performance of 4 for 27 is his second best for South Africa against India at Kingsmead, Durban, next only to Andre Nel`s 4 for 13 on November 22, 2006.
  • Tsotsobe has received the Man of the Match award for the second time in ODIs - his first was against Pakistan at Abu Dhabi on October 29, 2010.
  • South Africa (289/9) have recorded their highest total against India in South Africa, bettering the 282 for four at East London on October 19, 2001.
  • South Africa (289 for nine) have posted their second highest at Kingsmead, next only to the 329 for six against Zimbabwe on February 27, 2005.
  • India`s 154 is their third lowest total against South Africa - the two lowest being the 91 at Durban on November 22, 2006 and 147 at Port Elizabeth on December 9, 1992.
