Mumbai: The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) will organise a quadrangular Under-19 tournament, featuring hosts India, Australia, West Indies and most likely Sri Lanka, next month.
"It will be a quadrangular tournament from mid-September and will involve India, Australia, West Indies and most probably Sri Lanka. The details would be known by tomorrow," BCCI sources said.
A 14-strong Australia under-19 squad has been announced by the country`s cricket authorities for the tour to India followed by a visit to Sri Lanka.
The team, picked by Cricket Australia`s Youth Selection Panel, would be accompanied by coach David Fitzgerald.
Commenting on the squad, National Talent Manager Greg Chappell said that the tour would be ideal for giving international experience to the Australians ahead of the Under 19 World Cup, his country would be hosting next year.
"The new players coming in provide the YSP and coach David Fitzgerald a great opportunity to give international experience to a wide range of talented youngsters with the ultimate focus being the ICC Youth World Cup in Australia in 2012," said the former India coach.
The role of captain will be shared throughout the tour, according to CA, which added that the tour of India would commence on September 22, while the exact match dates and venues are yet to be confirmed.
