Islamabad: Pakistan is seeking to defeat Sri Lanka in a five-match series starting in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday.
In-form Pakistan is trying to build on their recent thrilling one-day triumph in South Africa when they take play against Lanka. Pakistan last month won their first-ever ODI series win against the Proteas in the UAE. According to Dawn News, skipper Misbah-ul-Haq, whose side is ranked sixth in the One-Day, two places lower than Sri Lanka, hopes Pakistan can build on their confidence-building success, saying his players thrive under pressure. Misbah said that he has good confidence before another tough series and hoped to carry the momentum the team gained in South Africa. He said the Pakistan team`s quality is that they produce better results when they are under pressure. But Misbah warned his side against complacency. Pakistan will be without lanky paceman Mohammad Irfan-who stands seven feet one inch (2.15 metres) tall-after he fractured his hip bone during the Twenty20 series against South Africa last month. Sri Lanka will be missing former captain Mahela Jayawardene and left-arm spinner Rangana Herath, who both opted out of the one-dayers, the report added.
