New Delhi: In a shocking move, Hashim Amla stepped down as South Africa captain on Wednesday after the end of second Test against England at Newlands which ended in a draw.

Amla, who had hit a rough patch with his batting form in the 0-3 Test series debacle against India last year, hit a solid 201 against England.

The Proteas batsman, who took over the reigns from former skipper Graeme Smith in 2014, has passed on the baton to AB de Villiers as he has decided to focus on his batting.
