New Delhi: Records they say are meant to be broken.
While most sporting records are bettered with each passing year, a select few continue to stand the test of time.
However, not often does one hear of a record being shattered within a span of few minutes.
Amusingly, that's what happened in Eden Park on Sunday when Colin Munro crushed Martin Guptill's record only 20 minutes after he set it.
Cricket fans witnessed a rare record-breaking spree of sorts when the two earned themselves a slice of history in a matter of minutes.
Guptill smashed a 25-ball 63, to record the fastest fifty by a Kiwi. The right-hander's 29-minute stay at the crease comprised of 6 fours and 5 sixes.
Not often does a performance like that gets overshadowed, especially in a modest chase.
But that's exactly what happened as Munro pulverised the Sri Lanka bowlers just as they were recovering from Guptil's onslaught.
Here is what went down as the home fans were treated to some stunning stroke play by the trailblazing duo.
