When Sachin Tendulkar blamed Greg Chappel for taking Indian cricket 5 years backward
Many unknown facets of Tendulkar's career came out at 'Unknown Sachin Tapes' session at a literary festival.
New Delhi: Sachin Tendulkar, besides being the brightest cricket star, is also regarded for carrying a quiet and calm demeanour, and for making political correct statements.
But at a recent literary festival, many unknown facets of the batting maestro -- including a matter-of-fact statement to Ian Chappell -- was revealed to the amazement of the gathering.
At the 'Unknown Sachin Tapes' session, Tendulkar's rather animated conversation with Chappell was played out, wherein the Indian slammed Australian legend and said, " You guys conveniently change your tone. Your brother (Greg, ex-India coach) created all the problem. He took Indian cricket at least five years behind."
It's worth noting that Ian had written - during a particularly low point in Tendulkar's career - that the batsman should have a look in the "mirror" and considered retirement.
In a chance meeting in a Durban gym, the Australian said "So this is the secret," prompting Tendulkar to shot back with that statement. Many unknown facets of Sachin Tendulkar's career came out via 'Unknown Sachin Tapes' session at a literary festival on Saturday evening.
