Mumbai Indians on Sunday said that the franchise will take a final decision on the appointment of team captain for the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League over the next few weeks.

Chennai: Mumbai Indians on Sunday said that the franchise will take a final decision on the appointment of team captain for the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League over the next few weeks.
"Over the next few weeks, Mumbai Indians management including Chief Mentor Anil Kumble and Head Coach John Wright will finalise team`s strategy and leadership for the forthcoming season," Mumbai Indians said in a statement. There were reports in the media yesterday that senior batsman Sachin Tendulkar could return as the captain for the event, commencing on April 3. The franchise meanwhile, welcomed the inclusion of the five new overseas players after the end of the auction here. "Mumbai Indians today participated in the IPL 2013 auction and are happy to welcome the five new overseas players to its family," the statement read. As far as Tendulkar was concerned, owner Nita Ambani had said it will be the batsman`s decision. "We have to go back to the drawing board and talk to Sachin. It is going to be Sachin`s decision and we will let you know," Ambani said. PTI
