Would you bring back Kevin Pietersen for World Cup: Michael Vaughan asks Twitteratis

New Delhi: Hours after the flamboyant right-hander Kevin Pietersen slammed a 46-ball 66 on his debut for Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash on Thursday, former England captain Michael Vaughan triggered an interesting debate.

Through his personal account on social micro-blogging site Twitter, Vaughan asked his followers whether they would want to see KP comeback for the forthcoming ICC World Cup.

Earlier in the day, through another Tweet, Vaughan said bringing Pietersen back could enhance England's chances of doing well at ICC's coveted event.

The 34-year-old, who was released from his contract with the Indian Premier League side Delhi Daredevils earlier in the week, reached his half-century off just 41 balls before being caught by Johan Botha off the bowling of Kane Richardson in the final over. Adelaide Strikers as his side posted 148 for 7 from their 20 overs.

Even though Pietersen's knock ended up being in vain as Strikers cruised to their target in just 12.2 overs for the loss of two wickets, talks on his comeback are likely to increase in the days to come.

Notably, ECB sacked Pietersen in an unceremonious manner earlier this year post their Ashes 5-0 annihilation at the hands of Australia.
