New Delhi: Veteran batsman Younis Khan on Saturday scored a record 26th Test ton for Pakistan. He achieved this feat in the ongoing first Test match against Australia on the fourth day in Dubai. The star player notched up a brilliant 103 not out off just 147 deliveries in the second innings, as Pakistan set a target of 434 runs for Australia to chase.

Younis, 36, surpassed former Pakistan skipper Inzamam ul Haq's total of 25 centuries in the longer format of the game. The middle-order batsman struck centuries in both innings of the Test match. He had equalled Inzamam's record earlier on Wednesday.

In the first innings, he scored a well made 106 as Pakistan put up a huge score of 454 runs on the scoreboard. In the second innings, Younis played a crucial role once again alongside Ahmed Shehzad to give Pakistan a big advantage going into the wee hours of the fourth day. His sublime innings consisted of six fours and two sixes.

Australia skipper Michael Clarke congratulated Younis after his record breaking ton.

Prior to this Test match, Younis was tied with former Pakistan batsman Mohammed Yousuf (24) centuries. Javed Miandad (23) is the only other Pakistan batsman who had scored more than 20 centuries in Test cricket.

Earlier on Wednesday, Younis also became the first Pakistani to score Test tons against all countries. After being dropped for the ODI series against Australia last week, and with questions hovering around his inclusion for the 2015 ICC World Cup team, Younis has served a reminder to the selectors that he is hungry and still has aplenty to offer.

Younis Khan has played 92 Test matches for Pakistan and has scored 7819 runs at an outstanding average of 52.41.
