Yuvraj Singh: Australia series a chance for southpaw to impress IPL franchises

New Delhi: After being released by Indian Premier League side Delhi Daredevils, Yuvraj Singh will be a part of the auctions on February 6, 2016.

Prior to that the southpaw will be engaged in a three-match T20 series against Australia starting from January 26, 2016.

Yuvraj was selected in the T20 squad against the Aussies after some good form in the Ranji and Vijay Hazare Trophy.

As expected his return to the Indian T20 side didn't excite Delhi Daredevils enough who decided to let him go. The Daredevils who disappointed in 2015 in the IPL, saw their star player score only 248 runs from 14 games.

Interestingly, Yuvi was bought by DD for a whooping 16 crores, and Delhi didn't want to risk that this time. The experienced left-hander now has a chance to showcase his mettle in the T20 series against Australia and score some vital runs.

India's middle order has been strengthened after Yuvraj's inclusion and if the team management decides to play him in the starting XI, he will have a terrific chance to contribute immensely.

A good outing against the Aussies will give IPL teams a prospect of bidding for the Punjab player. It will be interesting to see what amount he goes for this time.

New teams Rajkot and Pune who replaced the suspended Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, could also be tempted to get Yuvi given his match-winning attributes.

Yuvi has earlier represented Kings XI Punjab, Pune Warriors (defunct) and Royal Challengers Bangalore besides DD.

So despite him being in the auction pool and without a team, Yuvi's vitality in Australia could see him back in the action soon.

India play a five-match ODI series before the T20 action.
