Prior called Pietersen to get to bottom of things

London: Wicketkeeper Matt Prior has admitted that he rang up Kevin Pietersen during the star batsman’s outburst against England’s dressing room following the drawn second Test with South Africa, before his now infamous Blackberry messenger exchanges with Proteas players saw him dumped for the Lord’s Test.
Pietersen claimed “it’s tough being me in this dressing room”. That public outburst prompted Prior to get to the bottom of things, something he believes can help smooth things over before KP’s eventual return. Prior told The Sun: “When he said ‘it’s tough being me’, I thought ‘hang on, something is not right here, when one of our senior players is struggling.’ So, I just wanted to know what KP was thinking — whether he did have gripes with the dressing room. “Quite honestly I just wanted to ask ‘what’s going on?’ It was a good chat and I think it was the right thing to do,” he said. With a new England deal now signed, Pietersen could be added to the squad travelling to India, provided both private meetings with senior players next week and the pre-tour training camp in Dubai go well. The upcoming four-Test series starting on November 15 in Ahmedabad will be Prior’s first England outing since the series loss to South Africa. ANI
