Delhi aim for 6 pts against Karnataka on seamer`s paradise

Bangalore: After being shocked by Haryana in their previous encounter, Delhi side led by Shikhar Dhawan is trying to pick up pieces as they take on hosts Karnataka in their next Ranji Trophy group B league encounter at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. While Delhi have 11 points from five matches despite couple of defeats, Karnataka are languishing right at the bottom of the nine-team league table with only five points from four matches.
It`s a must-win situation for both the teams and a result-oriented wicket will be on offer as the two teams prepare to lock horn. "It is difficult when you lose a match like the last one in Lahli. But we have had a couple of good sessions since w arrived in Bangalore. The boys have looked sharp in the training session and will not like to repeat the mistakes made in the last match," chief coach Vijay Dahiya told PTI today. As far as the team combination is concerned, off-spinner Manoj Chauhan is likely to sit out as the two strips that have been kept ready for the match have a greenish look to it. "They have left a fair bit of grass which means they would also go all-out for a win. Manoj will be sitting out but we haven`t decided on the replacement. It can be either Ashish Nehra who was already fit during the last match or Pawan Suyal who rested during last match." It will be interesting as to what is the call of the management. Nehra broke down after bowling only six overs against Baroda and is certainly not reliable when it comes to lasting the rigours of four-day cricket. Suyal on the otherhand has come back from injury has done well in patches. Karnataka`s performance has been disappointing this season as their campaign has been marred by injuries to key players. However what hurt them most was losing outright to minnows Odisha on their home turf. PTI
