London: England off-spinner Graeme Swann was charged with drink driving in Nottingham last month, the police said on Monday.
Swann, currently ranked the third in ICC Test bowlers` chart, was stopped near his home in the West Bridgford area of Nottingham, central England, on April 2 and charged for the offence on June 8.
The 31-year-old will appear before magistrates in Nottingham on August 16.
Swann has been charged with "driving a motor vehicle when his alcohol level was above the limit," a Nottinghamshire Police spokeswoman said.
Swann established himself in the England Test side in 2007 and has become the first choice spin bowler. He was a key player of the Ashes winning side of 2009.
In May, Swann was named England`s cricketer of the year. He was also named the Man of the Series on England`s last two tours, to South Africa and Bangladesh.
