Scholes eyeing 500 league games `milestone` before retirement
London: Veteran Manchester United player Paul Scholes will reportedly get a chance to reach a milestone of 500 league games before his retirement.

According to a report, the current season will be the last for the mid-fielder, who has made only a single comeback following a knee injury in the second half of this season.

However, Scholes, who has made 497 league appearances, needs to appear against Chelsea and in the final two matches at home to Swansea City and away to West Bromwich Albion to make it to 500.

Scholes has been training for the last 10 days and will be on the bench for Sunday’s visit of Chelsea.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he is keen that Scholes plays against Swansea on May 12 when the Premier League trophy is presented, although he added that he would probably put Scholes on the bench for Sunday`s match to get him back in the fray.

Scholes has played 716 times for United scoring 155 goals - but he is still behind Sir Bobby Charlton on 758 games and No 1 Ryan Giggs on 938 games.
