Rotterdam: Ajax Amsterdam have suspended striker Luis Suarez for two league matches after he bit PSV Eindhoven’s Otman Bakkal on the shoulder during their 0-0 draw on Saturday.

Uruguay World Cup striker Suarez could also face disciplinary action from the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) who said on Monday they would investigate the incident which was missed by the match referee.

Ajax said on their official website that Suarez would pay an undisclosed fine which will be donated to charity.

Suarez, with seven league goals this season, will miss the league matches against VVV Venlo on Sunday and NEC Nijmegen the following week. He will be available for Tuesday’s Champions League match against Real Madrid.
