Manchester: Manchester United’s manager Alex Ferguson has said that the club’s past triumphs stand at nothing and they will have to really battle it out for a record 20th title this season.

“I frequently stress the importance of our history and experience, but you cannot depend on past achievements to win trophies. It’s important we get our fingers out and perform in every game.” Ferguson was quoted as saying by Daily Star.

“Nice though the Cup is, we are now back to the nitty gritty of the league. No excuses now. We have got some of our injured players back and others are not far from returning.” he added

Manchester United are facing a severe title challenge from their city rivals Manchester City and their recent performances haven’t been so encouraging. The club is also feeling the absence of players who are out due to injuries.

The club has a host of difficult fixtures ahead in the coming weeks that include clashes with Arsenal, Stoke City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
