Ancelotti denies joining Roma

London: Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has denied rumours that he is set to become Roma’s manager after being spotted in the Italian capital this week.

Ancelotti has been tipped to take charge at Roma if Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich axes him this summer.

“I have expressed many times it is my wish to one day coach Roma - that has always been my desire. However, this doesn’t mean that I will do it tomorrow. I still have a year of my contract with Chelsea and I’m happy in London,” Ancelotti said.

It is thought Ancelotti was in Rome for the 50th birthday of his former wife, Luisa, despite Sunday’s title decider with Manchester United.

But that has not stopped suggestions he has already held informal talks with the club who sacked ex-Blues boss Claudio Ranieri in February.

The rumours came on the day Ancelotti was accused by prosecutors of lying in court in the 2006 Juventus match fixing scandal, the paper reports.
