Antonio Valencia gives up `famous` no.7 Man U shirt

London: Manchester United player Antonio Valencia will keep aside his famous no.7 shirt for the new season and would revert back to his original no.25, prompting speculation that the no.7 is being kept vacant for a special signing.

According to, the Ecuadorian, signed from Wigan for 16million pounds in 2009, wore the no.25 in his acclaimed debut season at Old Trafford but switched to the shirt made famous by the likes of David Beckham, Eric Cantona and Cristiano Ronaldo the following year.

The report said that it could be the weight of expectation that proved too much to carry for the Old Trafford winger.
