Atletico-MG look to sign Brazil internationalRio de Janeiro: Atletico-MG are hoping to sign Brazilian international footballer Diego Tardelli in the next few days.

The Minas club are looking for strong reinforcements before they begin their Copa Libertadores campaign next month. Atletico finished second in last year`s Brazilian championship and are now striving to bolster their squad to compete for South America`s premier club prize, reports Xinhua.

The club`s pre-season training starts Tuesday and president Alexandre Kalil is hoping to wrap up a deal for Tardelli as soon as possible.

"There is expectation, negotiations are ongoing and we shall see," Kalil told Radio Esportes FM.

Since the transfer window opened Kalil has openly stated his desire to bring Tardelli to the football club. The striker has previously been with Atletico, having played for the team between 2009 and 2011 before moving to Russian club Anzhi in a multi-million dollar deal.

Kalil has already convinced two-time FIFA world player of the year Ronaldinho Gaucho to sign a contract extension and believes Tardelli would be "the cherry on the cake" for the club to have a chance of winning either the Brazilian league title or the Copa Libertadores.
