Bagan to lock horns with Prayag United
Kolkata: Fresh from their victory over arch-rivals East Bengal, Mohun Bagan will lock horns with Prayag United Sports Club in a round seven I-League fixture on Wednesday.
United SC are the only side from the four Kolkata teams to remain unbeaten from six matches and the local challengers will aim to keep their slate clean against the tournament heavyweights who will miss Jose Ramirez Barreto and Jewel Raja (both double booking).
Bagan will also be without the injured duo of Anwar Ali and Rakesh Masih but they seemed relaxed and confident after their victory over East Bengal two days ago.
Coach Prasanta Banerjee, however, warned his players to be on guard against complacency as Mohun Bagan (15 points) are below leaders Churchill Brothers in the points tally.
"We have warned all the players not to be over-confident. After winning a derby players seem to relax but that is all past. Now we need to think about tomorrow`s match," Banerjee said.
United SC will also miss the suspended duo of Arnab Mondal and Denson Devadas and has an injury scare to Lalkamal Bhowmick.
But coach Sanjoy Sen said there was nothing to worry about Bhowmick`s injury.
"He has a minor niggle... I think he will be fit for tomorrow. Last year also we have done well against Bagan. They are a good team but there is nothing for us to worry about," Sen said.
"We will play our natural game and hope to do our best. As of now we are the only unbeaten team from Kolkata in this edition of the I-League. We will go out there to get the full three points and play our normal attacking game," he said.
Asked his side`s plans to tackle Bagan top forward Odafa Okolie, he said, "He is a great player but we will not try to man mark him but rather stick to our normal zonal marking."
United SC have 10 points to lie at fifth spot.
