Kolkata: Mohun Bagan today demanded that the
All India Football Federation should bear the monthly fee of
their stopper NS Manju`s because he got injured while playing
for India in Nehru Cup.
In a letter to Indian Football Association, Mohun Bagan
general secretary Anjan Mitra said the India stopper was
injured while on national duty and hence Manju`s monthly pay,
which is Rs 3,63,636, should be paid by the AIFF.
"Manju left for national camp on June 23 and was
seriously injured while playing for India in Nehru Cup. He has
not received any payment till date.
"Our 11-month contract with the player began on July 1
and due to injury he has not been able to practice with the
the team even a day this season. He is out of action since
then and it`s unclear when he would be match fit with his
injured leg still on plaster.
"As per your written commitment, you are requested to
please take up the matter with AIFF and ask them to pay the
remuneration of Rs 40 lakhs for 11 months to Manju from July
onwards," stated the letter, referring to the earlier exchange
of letters between IFA and AIFF.
According to sources, the AIFF had promised to pay the
sum to Manju but has not paid anything till date.
