Becks planning to build stadium for Major League Soccer team in Miami

London: England football legend David Beckham is planning to build a stadium for his new Major League Soccer team in Miami`s dock area.

According to the Daily Star, just like English Championship side Millwall, whose support was once drawn from London dockers, Becks is hoping the 176,000-plus workers at Port Miami will become instant fans of his MLS team.

He and his backers have asked for permission to launch the club on the city`s man-made Dodge Island, the report said.

The island contains the world`s biggest cruise ship port, the report added.

Until the new home of 38-year-old Beckham`s dream team is built, the club is likely to play at the nearby 75,000-capacity Sun Life Stadium owned by the Miami Dolphins American Football franchise, the report further said.
