Rio de Janeiro: Brazil`s national football team received a scare on the eve of its international friendly against Argentina when a violent storm forced its Resistencia-bound flight to deviate 300km from its original route.
Relieved players and officials cheered and exchanged high-fives upon landing in the northern Argentine city Tuesday night, Xinhua reported.
"We encountered a very strong line of instability and had to deviate the flight-path via Paraguay," the flight`s captain Carlos Henrique Bandeira said.
The chartered Whitejets flight left Sao Paulo`s Guarulhos airport and arrived in Resistencia half an hour behind schedule.
One of the flight staff said she had never been so nervous during her 11-year career as a flight attendant.
