Bruno Peres wonder-strike ends Torino`s 12-year derby goal wait

Milan: Bruno Peres ended Torino`s 12-year wait to score against city rivals Juventus in the Turin derby with a stunning equaliser halfway through the opening period on Sunday.

Torino`s last victory over the 30-time Italian champions was back in the 1994-95 season, when they beat Juve home (3-2) and away (2-1).

They last hit the back of the Juventus net in the league in February 2002 when the sides drew 2-2.

However, Peres ended that 12-year wait in style, when he collected the ball deep in Torino territory and outpaced Patrice Evra on a long run down the right before beating Marco Storari with a fine angled strike that came off the far post in the 22nd minute.

It was the 24-year-old Brazilian right-back`s first goal for the club he joined from Santos prior to the season.

"Acceleration is something I`m naturally good at, thanks to God I scored a nice goal to help the team," Peres told Sky Sport at half-time. "I dedicate it to my wife and all the Torino fans."

A Juventus win would extend the champions` lead over Roma to six points ahead of the Giallorossi`s later home game with Inter.

Torino currently sit two points above the relegation zone.
