Cardiff relegated from Premier League following 3-0 loss to Newcastle

London: Welsh side Cardiff City has been relegated from the Premier League after a single season following a 3-0 defeat by Newcastle United at St.James Park on Saturday.

Cardiff has been sent back to the Championship while Newcastle, who had lost their previous six games, saw a sizeable number of their fans walk out after 69 minutes in protest at the running of the club.

According to the BBC, Newcastle took the lead through Shola Ameobi`s first-half header and sealed their fate with late goals from Loic Remy and Steven Taylor.

Newcastle`s poor recent form was partly behind the open mutiny from their fans, but the supporters who stayed until the end were able to celebrate what turned out to be a comfortable victory, the report added.
