Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini insists that his team is determined to hold the championship table lead till the end of the season.
“We have started the season really well. That is more important than anything. We have played only eight games – there’s another 30 to go,” the Daily Star quoted Mancini, as saying.
“But we should be happy to go to Old Trafford at the top. We will fight to the end for the title. We’re confident,” he added.
City moved into the championship table lead with a 4-1 win over Aston Villa on Saturday, as United dropped into second with a 1-1 tie at Liverpool.
City, seeking its first league title since 1968, has 22 points, two more than United.
