Margao: Injury-ravaged Dempo FC would look to bounce back after defeats when they face new entrant Bharat FC in the Hero I-League at Nehru Stadium here on Friday.
After their impressive performance in the Federation Cup, Dempo FC are struggling in the on going I-League as they have collected just two points from their last six matches to occupy ninth place with eight points from nine matches.
Bharat FC too are in the bottom half just like Dempo with nine points from eight matches and they will be looking to collect full points in their next two matches to move into the top half.
Dempo assistant coach Maurico Afonso said, "The morale of the team is high even after defeats. Injuries have taken a heavy toll to our performance so far and we were expecting that the break would help our boys to recover but that has not helped our cause.
"Tolgay, Narayan, Pronay and Debrata are still nursing from injuries. Carlos Hernandez who received red card in the last match will also not play tomorrow. We have put up a good performance in our match against Mohun Bagan in the second half and had chances to score but finishing is our main problem which has let us down. We will keep on fighting with whatever resources we have and do our best to win tomorrow against Bharat FC," stated Afonso.
Bharat FC coach Stuart Watkiss said, "We are expecting a tough game against Dempo who have like of Lenny Rodrigues, Francis Fernandes and Mandar Rao in the attacking line up who are capable of giving a tough time for our defense.
"Our team is improving after every match and Dempo is one of the best teams we are playing in the league and I look forward for a close fight. We have few injuries but its part of the game. All the four foreigners will be on the board and are playing well," stated Watkiss.
