Dempo to take on Mohammedan

Margao: Dempo FC are looking to bounce back after losing to Salgaocar when they take on Mohammedan Sporting in a 21st round match in I-League on Saturday at Nehru Stadium here.
Dempo had a fine run after the winter break winning four matches on a trot until their defeat againt Salgaocar which saw them remain at 25 points from 19 matches. Inspite of their regular player defender Simon Colosimo and influencial midfielder Clifford Miranda missing in their last match, they gave good account of themselves against Salgaocar, especially in the second half when they could have easily drew the match, but rival keeper Karanjit Singh brought off three spectacular saves to help Salgaocar win 2-0. Now that both are back in the side after serving one match suspension, they will be looking to continue their winning ways tomorrow against Mohammedan Sporting who have been inconsistent. They have won one, drawn one and lost two out of the four matches they have played last and need to pull up their socks tomorrow if they are to overcome Dempo who are been playing well as a team. Mohammedan Sporting are placed 12th with 17 points from 18 matches, only above Churchill Brothers who have a match in hand and are two points behind. With five matches remaining, coach Sanjoy Sen is confident that his side can come out of the relegation. "We have come here to collect full points and are well prepared for tomorrow`s game as we need victory to move above the relegation zone. A defeat will be disaster," said Sen. Dempo`s two new foreign recruits, Tolgay Ozbey and Afghanistan defender Haroon Amiri have added to Dempo`s strength. Tolgay along with Alwyn George have struck good combination upfront and with Clifford Miranda on the left and Roberto Silva from the middle giving them good support, the rival defense will have a tough time in keeping them at bay. "Dempo`s coach Arthur Papas is not worried about their loss against Salgaocar. We had long period of the ball but were not able to score, that`s where we lost the battle. But tomorrow we will be come out winners," stated Papas.
