Rio De Janeiro: Uruguay international striker Diego Forlan could be set for a January move to Brazilian club Botafogo, according to local media reports.
The 34-year-old is currently contracted to Botafogo`s Brazilian rivals Internacional, but has been tempted by the lure of playing in next year`s Copa Libertadores, Xinhua reported citing Uol report Sunday. Botafogo playmaker Nicolas Lodeiro, Forlan`s Uruguay teammate, is understood to be key to the Rio club`s bid for the former Manchester United forward. "Lodeiro has contacted his friend and spoken very highly of Botafogo," the report said. Botafogo qualified for the Copa Libertadores - South America`s elite club competition - by finishing fourth in the 2013 Brazilian league standings. Forlan has scored 22 goals from 44 appearances for Internacional since his July 2012 move from Inter Milan.
