Dortmund drop points as Bayern edge closer
Berlin: Defending champions and league leaders Borussia Dortmund drew 0-0 with Augsburg while record champions Bayern Munich demolished Hoffenheim 7-1 in the 25th round of German Bundesliga.
Dortmund dropped two points against bottom team Augsburg which allowed Bayern to move within five points of the leaders.
"Today we had no assurance. We hardly had any opportunities. Augsburg won a deserved point today," Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp said.
Record champions Bayern Munich inflicted Hoffenheim a heavy 7-1 loss at sold out Allianz Arena. Within thirty-five minutes the Bayern scored five goals to put the match well beyong Hoffenheim
Striker Mario Gomez scored a hat-trick while Dutch midfielder Arjen Robben scored a brace and one by young midfielder Toni Kroos and Frenchman Frank Ribery.
Meanwhile, Wolfsburg came from behind to shock Bayern Leverkusen 3-2 in front of home crowd at Volkswagen Arena. They climb from 11th to 10th place with 31 points whereas Leverkusen stay fifth with 40 points.
