New Delhi: After days of hiding, Angel Di Maria finally surfaced, hitting headlines. The Argentine on Tuesday had a medical in Qatar ahead of his GBP 44.3m move to French champions Paris St-Germain (PSG).
After the medical, the former Real Madrid and Benfica player told beIn Sports, "I am very happy to join Paris St-Germain. They're very important."
It's worth mentioning that Di Maria joined Manchester United last year in a British record GBP 59.7m from Real Madrid in a surprise transfer.
Despite this development, neither club has so far confirmed the transfer, which will put the Argentine winger in a third club in three years.
"They [PSG] made it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, so my objective was to arrive to Paris and to help them through the quarter-final barrier, because they have struggled in the past two seasons." he was quoted as saying.
Di Maria was announced an absentee by the United manager Angel Di Maria during the club's pre-season tour of America and speculations were rife for a possible move out of Old Trafford.
After starting United stint on a rousing note -- scoring a goal and an assist in his first three games -- Di Maria failed to impressed much, and ended the season scoring only four goals in 32 outings.
With new opportunity and new vistas in front of him, the Argentine then said, "I will try to do the best I can to help the club in those objectives and reach the final stages of the Champions League."
