Turin: World Cup winner and current Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon believes Argentine striker Sergio Aguero can be English football club Manchester City's equivalent of Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.
The forward has been in good form recently netting nine goals in 13 matches, despite having to deal with a hamstring injury.
"When you get to the knockout stages (of the Champions League), the best teams look to their stand-out player for a moment of brilliance. So many times we have seen Messi do it for Barcelona or Ronaldo do it for Real Madrid. Aguero can be that player for Manchester City," Buffon was quoted as saying by goal.com on Wednesday.
"One player cannot win you the Champions League, but special players win you games, and winning games wins you competitions. Sergio Aguero is that special player for them," added Buffon, who won the 2006 World Cup for Italy.
