New Delhi: Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney became the second highest goalscorer in the history of the Premier League.

The English international scored against Everton on Saturday. He latched on to Ander Herrera's smart pass and finished clinically at the near post past Tim Howard.

With the goal he equalled the record of former Manchester United striker Andy Cole (187). Former Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has the record of most goals with 260 strikes.

The forward took 415 games to get 187 goals in the EPL. 

Rooney took 11 long months to score an away goal and the wait was over on Saturday.
