Wayne Rooney: Forward calls conceding late goal silly after Man United's 3-3 draw against Newcastle

New Delhi: Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney returned to form on Tuesday after netting two goals and providing an assist but that wasn't enough as Manchester United conceded lead twice to be held by Newcastle 3-3 at St James' Park.

The United skipper admitted that the goals his side had conceded were silly and avoidable.

"I think they were silly goals to concede on our behalf and they were avoidable. They have cost us two points so we`re disappointed... you can score as many goals as you want but if you keep conceding goals then it`s a problem."

Rooney's poor form had been criticised of late but the England international found himself having a great game to reach closer to Bobby Charlton's all-time scoring record for the club. But the skipper was frustrated letting back the Magpies into the game.

"After going 2-0 up we were in control of the game and then we let them back into it," Rooney added.
