Wenger admits ‘concerns’ over top-four finish following Chelsea defeat

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for the first time has admitted he is worried about club’s top-four finish this season following their 2-1 defeat at Chelsea on Sunday.

London: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for the first time has admitted he is worried about club’s top-four finish this season following their 2-1 defeat at Chelsea on Sunday. The Gunners boss finds himself seven points adrift of fourth-placed rivals Tottenham Hotspurs and in serious danger of not making the Champions League, after blaming a slow start for their defeat against the Blues.
Wenger said they lost two big games in the last week, and that’s very damaging for them, adding they can’t drop points any more if they want to be in the top four and that’s a concern. Wenger added the club has fantastic quality and spirit, but coming into the game when they were 2-0 down and that is very difficult in the big games. Wenger, who has guided the Gunners to 15 consecutive Champions League campaigns, further added they were stretched and they gave Chelsea far too much room to play and they didn’t defend tightly enough.
