London: Veteran Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand has said that he believed that United`s 7-1 battering of Italian club Roma six years ago is the greatest game he has ever played.
According to The Sun, then-United player Cristiano Ronaldo and Michael Carrick hit two goals each in the 2007 match and Wayne Rooney , Alan Smith and Patrice Evra also netted as United went on a Champions League romp. Despite playing at World Cups and in the 2008 Champions League final, match defender Ferdinand is most fond of that Old Trafford match and said that he remembers then-boss Sir Alex Ferguson stating after the game that such results come only after a lifetime. According to Ferdinand, that was the moment when everything clicked and every single player deserved eight or nine marks out of 10, adding that they would have beaten any team in that match. ANI
