Gary Neville says Rooney `better off` staying with United
London: England coach Gary Neville has advised Wayne Rooney to stay with Manchester United, believing that he would be better off at Old Trafford than moving to another club.
According to a report, Rooney is currently being targeted by a host of major clubs that includes Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, and is expected to have further talks with new manager David Moyes about staying with the Premier League champions.
Neville said that he had played with Rooney for many years and he was a fantastic footballer, adding that he would not recommend anyone to leave United because players could achieve what they wanted to there, although David Beckham and some other big players went away due to individual preferences.
The English striker is also demanding the club should make clear that he had never `asked for a transfer`, along with clearly denying that he is asking to leave United.
