New Delhi: Manchester United`s Juan Mata scored two vital goals and made an assist in Saturday`s 4-0 thumping of Newcastle United at St James` Park. Mata scored his third goal for David Moyes` side in his second successive match. Mata didn`t make much impact in the initial matches for United after being restricted to the wings, a position he isn`t suited at. A prolific No.10, Mata has found his touch in the last few matches playing behind the striker. Mata has linked well with Shinji Kagawa on the left and Wayne Rooney up-front and that has suited David Moyes. With Robin van Persie playing, Mata hasn`t functioned to his potential. The Spaniard left holes in his pursuit of defence while falling back and Moyes has now stuck to traditional wingers on the flanks off late. When Robin van Persie does come back from injury, it will be interesting to see where Mata plays again. Playing in his favoured position, Mata was instrumental in the last couple of matches against West Ham, Aston Villa and now Newcastle. The Spaniard is back to what he does best and that is scoring goals and making assists and he is finding his feet once again. For David Moyes it is a good headache to have, when all his star players are making an impact. For now, Mata is filling the void United missed in goals scored this season. The Spaniard was bought by United from Chelsea for a club-record fee of 37 million pounds in January, after being left out in the cold by Jose Mourinho. Not to forget, Mata was Chelsea`s player of the year for two successive seasons.
